Electroless Nickel

Electroless Nickel Plating is an auto-catalytic process that does not use electric current to produce the coating. The process deposits a uniform nickel phosphorous alloy to the metal, regardless of the shape of the part or its surface irregularities. This coating comes in many variations which has different attributes. The most popular being medium phosphorous electroless nickel. It’s bright, hard, and corrosion resistant. We offer the following options for Electroless Nickel are: Medium Phosphorus; High Phosphorus; and Electroless Nickel with Teflon.
We have four EN lines ranging from 200 gallons to 500 gallons. We plate mid and high phos EN and support those coatings with Sulfamate, Copper and Wood’s Nickel Strikes as necessary.
Chemicals used for Electroless Nickel, High Phos and Mid Phos Platinum, at Team Metal Finishing, Inc., are RoHS compliant. See Certificate of Compliance.

REACH

Our Electroless Nickel plating is in compliance with the requirements for REACH.

REACH stands for the Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. The REACH Regulation entered into force on 1st June 2007 to streamline and improve the former legislative framework for chemicals of the European Union (EU). REACH also created the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) which has a central co-ordination and implementation role in the overall process. ECHA is located in Helsinki, Finland and manages the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction processes for chemical substances to ensure consistency across the countries in which REACH applies.
The following sources of information about REACH are available:
• The REACH Regulation and other related pieces of legislation published in the Official Journal of the European Union; links to these texts can be found in the section on legislation of the ECHA website.
• The “About REACH” section of the ECHA guidance website provides concise and basic information on REACH.
• The REACH guidance documents provide explanatory and supplementary information to the legal text. They are the result of both consultation of relevant stakeholders and close co-operation between the National Competent Authorities and the European Commission. Final guidance documents as well as draft versions in the process of being updated are available on the ECHA guidance website.

Nickel Plating

Nickel Plating is an electrolytic process that uses externally applied current to deposit a hard or soft, dull or bright, metallic coating. The deposit is used to enhance the part’s life, value, aesthetics and to protect the part from general corrosion from the environment. Because current is used to deposit the plating edges or sharp corners will tend to develop a thicker coating. This is commonly referred to as the dog-bone effect.
